Emlyn Austin, Shop Assistant

Emlyn might seem quiet, focused, reserved, always moving with purpose. But step into Berg Performance for even a few minutes, and you’ll quickly realize something: the standard you see, feel, and experience in the shop doesn’t happen by accident. Behind all the cleanliness and organization, Emlyn is there making it happen.

Having grown up around the Denver area, Emlyn found her way to Berg Performance the same way many great stories begin; through persistence. After graduation, she spent months applying, interviewing, and searching for the right opportunity. Berg saw something in her, and she’s been proving that decision right ever since.

Her path into the automotive world began in a high school STEM class, where curiosity quickly turned into something more hands-on. Around the same time, her dad started involving her in real-world projects, like house work, basic car maintenance, showing her how what she was learning actually applied outside the classroom. The class itself followed a shop-style curriculum, even if it was labeled a STEM elective. In hindsight, it was the bridge to a passion when theory met the real world and everything started to click.

That early exposure was just enough to get her hands dirty. But the hook set deep during a dual-enrollment collision repair program, where she discovered something simple and addictive: take it apart, understand it, make it better, and put it back together so it lasts.

That mindset stuck. On paper, Emlyn is our Shop Assistant. In reality, she is the one making sure the place doesn’t descend into chaos between repairs and builds. She keeps the floors clean, the supplies where they belong, the coffee station ready, and the small details handled before they become big problems. It’s not glamorous work. It’s necessary work. What most people don’t see is how deep her role runs. She has her hands in everything, quietly supporting the technicians, the workflow, the pace of the shop.

Off-road vehicles are what interest her most, though she’ll be the first to admit she doesn’t have a fully defined “dream build” yet. She’s still in thephase of learning what works, what holds up, and what actually matters when a vehicle leaves the pavement. It’s less about chasing a finished vision and more about understanding the process. How each component, system, and detail contributes to its capability and reliability.

Outside the shop, Emlyn’s wired a little differently. She’s drawn to zoology and marine biology, fascinated by how complex systems function in the wild. When she’s not in the shop, she’s cooking, baking, or working on DIY projects. To keep herself in peak performance, Emlyn loves to train in acrobatics, and is known to let go of stress at the gym. And on a lighter note, Emlyn is a massive dog person. Any time a customer brings a dog into the shop, it’s immediately the "best part of the day." She’ll tell you she can come off a little distant sometimes, but that’s just because she’s watching. Soaking everything in and picking up on the small details.

Here at Berg Performance, that’s not a flaw, it’s part of the job. Emlyn’s next step is clear: becoming a full-fledged technician. It’s a continuation of what she’s already doing. Because the same attention to detail that keeps a shop running smoothly is what ultimately builds cars that last. A standard we value here at Berg Performance.
